The Lowry Family's Story

"My husband and I have six children. Our youngest is Luke and he has Down Syndrome, so we became acquainted with the team at Ability Tree Arkansas almost immediately from the time that Ability Tree launched their Community Branch in Siloam Springs. We absolutely could not believe that this was available to us locally. Initially, we took advantage of Friday night Ability Tree programs that Luke could attend, and it gave us an opportunity to just have some time as a couple. We noticed right away that Luke was so excited to attend. Ability Tree was always a highlight for him, so once a month we came with him and saw how much he was loved by the volunteers. Eventually he started attending the After School Program every day, which was invaluable for me because I am a teacher working full-time and needed that time after school. It was so beneficial to our family, we could do the things we needed to do and know that Luke was in a place that was taking such good care of him and loved him. Communication is the hardest issue for Luke, but i'm seeing that he is wanting to tell me about the things he's doing at Ability Tree. ...Ability Tree is a light in our world."
